Self-courage in quarter time

Post by asimj1 »

"It's good," commented a certain Roland Sütterlin, "that there are still journalists with civil courage." He is talking about Constantin Seibt, star writer for the Tagesanzeiger. The reason for Sütterlin's euphoria: Seibt's reckoning on tagesanzeiger.ch with the "Weltwoche", the "Basler Zeitung" and the associated involvement of Messrs Tettamanti and Blocher. These media, Seibt concluded, make no contribution to media diversity at all. The Internet community's approval is certain. "Oh, how south africa rcs data refreshing," rejoiced Blanca Imboden, "when someone finally gets to the point." But isn't the concept of civil courage turned on its head if you just write what the majority already thinks? There is nothing easier - and less dangerous - in this country than to lustfully attack Somm, Köppel, Weltwoche and BaZ. A mathematical law: the harder, the better. And relatively comfortable: applause is inevitable, and complaints or counterstatements are unlikely. But here too, the question is allowed: Why does Seibt never write about Tamedia's monopoly position in the Swiss press landscape? But sometimes - and Seibt knows this - every revolutionary needs the warmth of home. There is nothing wrong with that. And yet - with all due respect - it is a bit cowardly. Niklaus Meienberg, the forefather of all noble pens, was of a different caliber. For example, he wrote a humorous report in the "Magazine" of the "Tages-Anzeiger" about the Prince of Liechtenstein, an acquaintance of the publishing family. The result: a 15-year writing ban. As long as it concerns Tettamanti and Blocher, there is no danger of this.
