Most company founders have their time in the military in common. In addition to a highly technical training, the military promotes creative thinking, solution-oriented work and team spirit.
It is therefore not surprising that the skills learned in military service have led to a large number of start-ups in the civilian sector in the areas of cyber security and big data. During my trip to Tel Aviv in May this year, we visited, among others, the companies Cylent Security (security solutions for smartphones) and Argus Cyber Security (security solutions in the automotive sector).
Another key research topic is intelligent mobility solutions. The presentations by Gett (an already very successful alternative to Uber), Innoviz (autonomous driving) and Store Dot (electromobility and batteries) were further highlights of our study trip. Company visits and discussions with Colu (digital or mobile payment solutions), Infinity AR (artificial intelligence) and Beyond Verbal (language research) rounded off the stay in Tel Aviv.
