I like these pants, but I don't know if they run larger... I want to give these earrings to my mother, but I don't know if they'll arrive in time for her birthday... That cream looks good, but will it work for my skin type?... These are examples of some doubts that we have all been able to have , at some point, while looking at a specific product in any of the online stores we have browsed. Wouldn't it have been nice to have someone there to resolve those doubts for us, like when we go to a physical store? Well, if we want our users not to leave with that same feeling, we can add a chat to our website .

In this post (and in this YouTube video by my colleague Robert) I am going to tell direct moving leads email lists you about a wonderful plugin that will solve your question of “how do I get a chat for my website?”, and it is called Smartsupp . With it we can be in direct and real-time contact with the users who need it. To offer them a personalized shopping experience and thus achieve our sales goal. Also avoiding losing customers due to a question that can surely be solved with a sentence. And the best of all is that this plugin is free (you don’t need to sign up for the paid plan to be able to use it).

As with most of the plugins we explain, this one is in the WordPress repository, so its installation is as simple as searching in the “ Plugins -> Add new” section for the word “Smartsupp” and there we can directly click install and activate it.

Once our chat plugin for WordPress is activated, we can log in with our Smartsupp account if we already have one, or directly create a new free account. After this process, a configuration wizard will appear that will provide us with the necessary code to insert between the <head></head> tags of our website made with WordPress.

From here we can say that our chat is installed and functionally active. Simple, right? Obviously we will have to configure some things to customize it and make it adapt to our website. And to do this we will have to go to our Smartsupp account and access “Account Settings” in “</> Chat Box” , where we can control both the position of the chat and the data that we will request in the form that will appear if we are not online, the link to the legal notice, the style, the colors and the texts that will be displayed both when we are online and when we are offline.

Once configured and before continuing, we should deactivate the most advanced trial version to stay with the free options , which will be the ones we keep if we do not contract another plan, and thus avoid surprises after the trial period.

To do this, go to Settings->Billing and in “My package” click on “Edit” to directly activate the “Free” plan.
