First of all, before hiring a manager, the owner should answer the following questions:


What stage of development is the company currently at?

What will the owner do after handing over the affairs to a hired employee (will get bored and start to interfere with the manager).

Does he have an up-to-date financial analysis of the company, and have the desired development indicators of the company been established, which the new beauty salon manager should strive to achieve?

Does the company have an approved development strategy for a year or more?

Has a system of control over the work of the organization and the manager been developed?

Will the investor give the manager the ability to hire and fire staff at his own discretion, without reporting?

If the salon is already operating, will the manager be able to cope with the natural resistance of employees to the planned changes?


Owners who are willing and able to delegate their powers, functions and responsibilities need a partner, not an assistant-executor.

And finally, let us summarize some conditions for high-quality interaction between the owner and manager of a beauty salon.

Personality compatibility.

It is important that the investor and the manager are willing and able to negotiate.

During the established period, the parties are obliged to comply with the agreed rules of joint activity.

They must build authority and improve each other's reputation among the staff (the team must see unity and not become distant).

Professional and ethical basis for cooperation

The investor should at least have a general understanding of the conditions and patterns of development of a beauty salon, which the manager knows about due to his profession.

The owner and manager must have the same points of view on personnel management, including its motivation system.

The parties must jointly develop plans for strategic development (to clearly understand the growth prospects). The manager can coordinate operational plans with the investor, if such an agreement exists.

Readiness for change and resistance of employees to upcoming changes is important.

A beauty salon manager must use power wisely and understand the risks of poor management.

The owner must be able to resist sabotage by existing specialists and not resist the arrival of new ones.

The investor needs to understand that the manager does not do absolutely everything, but only solves the tasks assigned to him (if no instructions are given to the manager, then he implements the optimal, in his opinion, business model).

Control


If these rules are followed, the manager does not need control. He needs reports and plans only to evaluate changes in the company's operations and determine whether operational actions correspond to the company's strategic goals.


Mutual assessment


The owner evaluates the manager based on the achievements he shows in performing his duties.

The beauty salon manager evaluates the tasks set by the owner and the changes that he (the manager) proposes and manages.


Result of cooperation


When cooperating with a manager, the investor expects, of course, the preservation of the business, and in the best case, its development and improvement of competitive properties. The hired manager expects a decent monetary reward and the maintenance of his professional image. Since there is a clear connection between these goals, one of the parties, to the best of its ability, should help the other in achieving them.
