Conciseness in the delivery of messages has always been one of the important values, both in advertising and in journalism, but with the introduction of information tools such as Twitter, which have a word limit per entry, this imperative for brevity also reaches the addresses of portals.

In an article in ClickZ , Gary Stein 99 acres data analyzes how the introduction of the Microblog platform alters the landscape of company URLs, which in order to be cited by a user in a Twitter entry have to adapt to the format of 140 characters for the content and 20 for the user's name, that is, they must be the same or shorter than an SMS.

This approach may seem like the result of many free hours, but it is not such a banal topic nor is it out of date if you think about the work that many companies do on Twitter to consolidate their brand image or to develop conversational marketing.

In this sense, the use of shorter addresses also improves their circulation throughout the Internet and constitutes a free tool, which can often even reduce the costs of registering a domain by choosing unknown acronyms.
