Tambov Region Increases Sunflower Oil Export Volumes

Considering the demand for sunflower oil, Tambov farmers are increasing processing capacity and building up export potential, increasing the level of competitiveness of products on world markets.

According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution Agroexport, our region supplied sunflower oil worth $16.9 million to foreign markets in January-May of this year, which is 30% more than the volume of exports of this product in the comparable period of 2023.
Seven large enterprises process sunflower seeds in the region. Their products are in demand in nine countries. The top three importing countries are Turkey, which accounts for 53% of the total export volume, Uzbekistan - 17% and China - 11%.
Taking into account the demand for sunflower oil, Tambov farmers are increasing processing capacities and building up export potential, increasing the level of competitiveness of products in world markets. - Our enterprises successfully build relationships with importers. A stable raw material base allows us to increase the capacity for processing agricultural crops. Thus, this year a new production facility was launched in Morshansk - an oil extraction plant with a capacity of 600 tons per day for processing sunflower seeds, - noted the Head of the Tambov Region Maxim Egorov.
It should be noted that Tambov Oblast is among the top 5 in the Central Federal District for vegetable oil production by the end of 2023. Last year, Tambov oil exports increased by 4% compared to 2022.
