More independence
The association “Au bout du Monde” was born from a partnership between the Société des lecteurs du Monde and the Société du Pôle d'Indépendance du groupe Le Monde . It aims to create the conditions for greater independence of the media from economic and political powers. Its action plan? Support the initiatives of employees who wish to finance their media, organize fundraising and acquire shares and social shares for all members.
Membership of the association is possible from 5 euros. Each jiangsu mobile number database member participates in general meetings and has one vote. The members of the association participate in the decisions of the Le Monde group . The most active members (and having contributed at least 15€) are eligible to sit on the board of directors of the association.
A citizen economic model
The association “Au bout du Monde” benefits from the support of economists, journalists and political figures. Their support is decisive in promoting the activity of the association which wishes to promote this new alternative economic model. In a context of mistrust, the objective is to associate readers with the production of quality information.
We want sustainability and to have media that last over time, that can recruit journalists in the long term, we need a model that relies much more on citizens, readers," Thomas Piketty
A first fundraising for the Society of World Readers
The association's first fundraising campaign, entitled "Enter the World", was done via crowdfunding on the KissKissBankBank platform. The goal? To raise €500,000 to defend the independence of the Le Monde group . A strategic choice that took place after Daniel Kretinsky's entry into the group's capital. His refusal to sign the approval fee requested by the Le Monde independence center had sparked strong reactions and a debate on media concentration.
