Reserve characters
Leaving a name also has a practical consideration: are there enough characters left in the message? A tweet has 140 characters, reserve 20 for the text “RT @nameofwriter” and the chance of a retweet increases. If I have to rewrite a message and juggle words to facilitate the retweet, the chance that I will mention your name decreases. So you also facilitate obtaining a retweet yourself by keeping this space free.
Personally, I am not in favor of simply abbreviating a message with “…” at the end because I india phone number list can’t manage with the text length. Often messages are cut off in an illogical way by, for example, Tweetdeck and you miss the content. The chance that someone will still read it has become smaller because it is less clear what I wanted to share. So I usually reserve 19 characters of free space in a message, enough for “RT @pietervlamings ” or “via @pietervlamings”
Why not?
Always mentioning an @name with every post makes the timeline look like a follow friday. My followers often don't need the source of the source of the source of a retweet. They are looking for information and I post it, they haven't signed up for a matchmaking agency.
