Advertising on social media is an emerging market and a good addition to the online marketing mix of many companies. As part of their revenue model, most social networking sites already offer advertising. Hyves was the odd one out until now, with mainly banners instead of text ads, but the Dutch site changed that drastically yesterday.
Social advertising
Social advertising is a welcome addition to the range of social media sites such as Facebook and Hyves. Social networks are free for members, so the question arises as to how to maintain their right to exist. Google already shows with Google AdWords that this does not have to be a very difficult task. Social networks have also jumped on this way of bringing together supply and demand. LinkedIn and Facebook already get part of their income from advertisements on the network sites, and LinkedIn even goes an innovative step further .
Banner Mission KNVB
Hyves had so far only so-called 'skyscrapers', advertising banners, which appeared in benin phone number list vertical format on the right side of the image. These banners had, in contrast to the text banners on Facebook and LinkedIn, a very high attention value. The image advertisement was namely the only visible commercial expression, vertically filling the screen and very distinctive by means of the colour scheme of the images and possibilities for moving images.
Because the supply of advertisers on Hyves is also increasing, the vertical banner (see example) is a thing of the past. Instead, there are now advertising possibilities on multiple positions and on multiple pages on Hyves.
Most viewed pages
Hyves knows exactly which pages are viewed the most and are therefore the most popular. The advertisements are displayed prominently on these pages. In random order, the most popular pages are the home page, the profile page, the friends overview and the photo page. Multiple banners will appear on each page. However, at any given time, no more than five banners will ever be visible.
