We don't have to worry, the changes will be applied to the copy of the campaign and not the original.
Once we have it configured, we return to Drafts and experiments and choose to create a campaign experiment.
In it, we simply have to give it a name (as we see below), a start and end date and choose how we want to divide our traffic between the original campaign and the experiment.
If we want it to have the least possible impact, we would have to be more conservative than 50/50.

Once we have managed to bring it to a sufficient point of maturity, it would be an optimal time to move it to Smart Bidding.
Keep one thing in mind, if the campaign has had a CPA of €50 in the last few weeks, you cannot expect the system to offer it to you at €20, it is very difficult.
Similarly, if your campaign was having a ROAS of 2.3, you won't be able to ask the system to reach 3.5 either, it's quite far away.
In this case, you will be interested in continuing to work on optimizing the campaign until the results are as close as possible to what you would like the system to achieve for you.
It is very important to be guided by the ROAS and CPA objectives that Smart Bidding offers us.
To apply Smart Bidding, we access the Configuration tab (1) of a campaign and in the bidding section we choose what we want to focus on.
Let's assume in conversions, through target CPA.
When we enter our target CPA, Google offers us its recommendation.
If Google doesn't suggest a goal for you, you may need to reconsider whether your campaign is suitable for automation in this way, as it usually does offer a recommendation.
If we decide to reduce it on our own, demanding more from the system, we may run into the problem of considerably reduced conversions, as the system is not able to meet our objective.

3.5 Is Smart Bidding working as expected?
It is very important that we let Smart Bidding work.

These times would be considerably reduced if the campaign has a much longer history.
Therefore, depending on this, the calibration time of the system could be extended more or less.
Of course, we can monitor it from the moment we launch an automated bidding strategy.
