The ads in the Google search network are hardly perceived as annoying anymore. Instead, big promises are circulating on the Internet about what can be achieved via Google AdWords. There is talk of high double-digit conversion rates. As an online and inbound marketing agency, we would like to answer this most pressing of all questions for you today: What do Google Ads campaigns really achieve? From practice - for practice.

Google Ads campaigns are promising under certain conditions
I would like to start by mentioning an important fact: Google is fusion database the absolute market leader . With a market share of over 87%, Google was by far the leader in May 2020 , measured in page views in the global desktop search engine market. Bing achieved a market share of just under 6%, Yahoo had just over 3%.

When it comes to searches via mobile devices, Google's global market share is even over 95%. The Chinese provider Baidu follows in second place with 2.34 percent.

That in itself speaks in favor of AdWords, because the basic market is there. The next question is whether the ads are actually clicked on, or whether searchers prefer the organic search results.

There are different figures for this - they range from 15% to 50%. Since good and relevant ads appear high up on the results pages for search queries, even a lower percentage would be significant. So from this point of view, AdWords ads are generally promising.
