How have the market shares of the largest web browsers developed in recent months? We have taken a look at the statistics for Germany for you .
The undisputed number 1 among the most used web browsers has been Google Chrome (44.86%) for two years.
And the growth continues. In the course of 2017, it replaced Mozilla Firefox as the most successful browser.
In particular, with the release of the actually successful Quantum update in November 2017, Firefox lost a landslide in market share (4.
57% in just two months). Apparently, many users resent the developers for removing compatibility with numerous add-ons with this version.
Since September 2017, it has dropped from 35.68% to just 25.35%, despite noticeably higher execution speed and stability.
Third place is taken by Apple's Safari browser. Since September 2019, it has seen an increase of almost 2%.
It is currently used by 11.21% of all users in Germany. Safari is the standard browser under MacOS and iOS.
Microsoft Internet Explorer still has its fans. However, its market share is now only 5.34%. At the same time, its successor Microsoft Edge has increased its market share to 8.
2%, and there is currently no end in sight to rcs data belarus its growth. One of the browser's advantages is that it consumes very little power , which has a positive effect on battery life, especially when running on battery power.
Edge recently underwent a fundamental overhaul. The Norwegian Opera browser is still just under the 4% mark. It has been considered the most modern and innovative web browser on the market for decades.
New technologies often appear in this browser first, often long before they are adopted by the big players.

Knowledge about the distribution of web browsers is particularly important for web designers.
It is not uncommon for a page to be displayed differently in different browsers. However, this has become easier in recent years: In addition to Google Chrome and Opera, Microsoft Edge now also uses the "Chromium" engine to render web pages.
The result of this is that web pages are almost always displayed identically in all three web browsers. While this has advantages on the one hand, it also has the disadvantage that of the major browsers, only Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer now use their own engines.
The rest of the market is dominated by Google's Chromium engine, which is not conducive to healthy market development in the long term.
