What is IoT, which we've been hearing a lot about lately? Part 1
Time flies, and one month has already passed in 2017.
Recently, you may have heard the term IoT a lot. However, when I try to explain what IoT is, I can't really explain it well... so I decided to look into it.
1. What is IoT?
"IoT" is an acronym for "Internet of Things." It is also known by another name, "Internet of Things.
" When you hear "Internet of Things," you probably overseas chinese in usa data don't understand what it means. This means that all "things," including not only communication devices such as computers and smartphones, but also devices and objects that are not originally intended for communication, will be connected to the "Internet," which will fundamentally change our lives and businesses.
2. Examples of IoT in our daily lives ① Zojirushi Mimamori Hot Line
One of the most commonly introduced IoT services in everyday life is probably Zojirushi's "Mimamori Hot Line." This is a
"safety confirmation service" that allows you to keep an eye on the lives of family members who live far away by using an electric kettle with a built-in wireless communication device every day. The service was launched in March 2001, and the total number of subscribers has now exceeded 10,000. *1 The impetus for developing
this service was a tragic incident that occurred in 1996, when an elderly mother who had been caring for her sick son was discovered one month after her death. *2

3. Examples of IoT in our daily lives ② Vending machines with IoT functions
As of November 30, 2016, the number of "Smartphone Vending Machines(R)" vending machines that are compatible with Coca-Cola's smartphone app "Coke ON" has exceeded 100,000 nationwide.
According to the Japan Vending Machine Manufacturers Association, the number of soft drink vending machines installed was 2,188,000 as of December 2015. In other words, the share of vending machines with IoT functionality is approximately 4.5%.
