As a web design and digital marketing agency in Barcelona, we must be up to date with the latest developments as well as trends in user behavior on the Internet. That is why today we want to talk to you about a trend that is increasingly on the rise: online shopping. The information we provide is data extracted from the report carried out by Seur and DPDgroup.
According to the report, 11.3% of Europeans make purchases online, 0.2% more than in 2016. If we look at the national level, 11% of Spanish consumers have already made a purchase online at some point.
If we look at the product most purchased online, it is fashion, with 19.8% across Europe. The sectors that follow closely behind are books (16.7%) and shoes (14.1%).
One fact that has caught our attention is that Europeans buy an average of 5.4 products online each year, meaning that Europeans buy between 5 and 6 products throughout the year. The British are the biggest consumers in the whole denmark telegram data of the European Union, where the average is 10.8 products. On the other hand, Estonia only buys an average of 1.7 products per year.
The report also mentions social networks, as they play a decisive role in the purchase of a product. Let me explain. A user has just decided whether to buy a product online based on the comments and/or opinions that other users have made about the brand/product.
Do all Europeans shop on European websites? No. 67% of Europeans have bought something outside Europe, with 44% buying from Chinese websites and 31% from the United States. AliExpress has become the most popular foreign website at the moment.
Laptops and desktop computers lead the ranking of devices used by users to make online purchases, with 61% and 52% respectively. Smartphones follow closely behind (39%) and tablets are stable (25%).
As for payment methods, Paypal and Alipay are the most commonly used methods in Europe, followed by Visa/Mastercard.
Finally, the report states that 81% prefer to send their purchases home, but the trend is changing, making work, post offices or parcel shops the ideal places to go to pick up the package.
