LinkedIn launches social ads

Post by Bappy11 »

A surprising number of employers are currently looking for an intern who is involved with things like Twitter, Facebook, blogs, forums and other social media. Mark Borgman of NationaleStagebank.nl: “The enormous growth in the supply of social media internships is very understandable. Companies realize that they 'have to do something' with social media, but often do not have this knowledge in-house. Students are very involved with social media and are often more adept at it than most employees. In addition, the budgets for this component are often not very large.” According to Borgman, hiring an intern who takes this on is a suitable solution. Whether this is actually a good solution is still the question.

Liza Bruggeling wrote last week about the launch of social ads on LinkedIn . Without you as a well-meaning LinkedIn user knowing, your name and profile picture will now be used in advertisements on the popular network site, via an automatic opt-in. There are two types of advertisements; one for promoting vacancies and one for promoting brands or organizations jamaica phone number list The reactions under Liza's article show that opinions about social advertising on LinkedIn are divided. Many see social ads as a free way to profile themselves. Others indicate that LinkedIn uses your profile to (unintentionally and unknowingly) advertise a product, service or company. Marco Dekkers: "The fact that I follow a company on LinkedIn does not mean that I want to advertise it. Especially not without having a say in the matter." Germany wants to restrict Facebook facial recognition
Facebook's international facial recognition system used to automatically tag photos has caused quite a stir. According to the Hamburg Data Protection Center, the automatic opt-in violates German and European law. According to 'Dataschutz Hamburg', this automatic opt-in deprives people of the ability to control what information about them is online. The organization has asked the German government for help and also requested Facebook to disable the functionality for all German users and delete previously stored data. If Facebook fails to do so, the SNS risks a fine of 300 million euros. Source: Mashable

Google+ attracts 25 million visitors per day
According to figures from research firm comScore, Google+ has attracted millions of visitors per day since its inception. Google+ reached the milestone of 25 million visitors per day on July 24, making it the fastest growing social networking site ever. The number of visitors is still growing by about 1 million unique visitors per day. It took Facebook three years to reach that number of visitors and Twitter more than 30 months, according to comScore. Although Google's activities in the field of social networking sites got off to a flying start, that is no guarantee for the future. For example, MySpace grew to 25 million visitors per day in less than two years, much faster than Facebook and Twitter, but lost many of its unique visitors last year, according to comScore.
